West Ham have spoken to Massimo Ambrosini about a possible deal following his release from AC Milan.
Ambrosini spent 18 years with Milan but he has been deemed surplus to requirements and is free to look for another club.
Hammers manager Sam Allardyce has identified the 36-year-old as a potential summer target, but he could face opposition from Major League Soccer clubs in the United States.
His agent Moreno Roggi admits the player has no interest in moving to the MLS and has held talks with West Ham.
"Obviously Massimo wants to continue," Roggi told the Calciomercato website.
"His preference would be overseas clubs, but if an offer did come in from an Italian side, we would not ignore it completely.
"At this moment we are in talks with West Ham, while we have already ruled out Major League Soccer."
