Canaries too strong for Bolton

Norwich City recorded a 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Nowrich thoroughly deserved their win, coming thanks to second half goals from Andrew Surman and Anthony Pilkington, which ensured that Bolton sunk into the Barclays Premier League's relegation zone.

The best chance of a goalless first period fell to Surman, following good set-up play from Bradley Johnson and Grant Holt, but the midfielder's shot struck the Bolton crossbar.

The home side's centre backs, Daniel Ayala and Zak Whitbread, were both forced off with first-half injuries, due to a hamstring strain and a knee problem respectively.

Having dominated since half-time, with Jackson going close, the Canaries hit the front with 20 minutes remaining. From Jackson's pull-back, Surman's shot was blocked by Tyrone Mears, but the Norwich man reacted quickest and drove his follow-up effort past Adam Bogdan.

Holt should have put Norwich two up 10 minutes after the opening goal, missing the target after being presented with an almost ideal chance by Pilkington's cross.

The hosts, though, got their second soon afterwards, as Russell Martin's shot through a crowded box was parried by Bogdan, allowing Pilkington to fire home the rebound and seal victory for his side.

The win saw Norwich climb to ninth place in the Premier League.
