McLeish rues missed chance

by Setanta Staff , 30 January 2012 Villa chief rues missed chance

Alex McLeish was left disappointed and told his Aston Villa side 'to learn' after they lost 3-2 at Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Villa boss spoke out after watching his side put one step into a possible fifth round date away to either Middlesbrough or Sunderland when goals from Richard Dunne and Darren Bent fired them into a two-goal half time lead at the Emirates Stadium.

However, two Robin van Persie penalties either side of a fortuitous Theo Walcott goal helped the Gunners storm back to progress which left McLeish downbeat afterwards.

"I am very disappointed we did not see it out and it is a missed opportunity," he said.

"The fans will be gutted at seeing us let that lead slip away. We have to learn from this and try to obtain that winning mentality."
