Black Cats urged to sell striker

by Setanta Staff , 23 February 2012 Black Cats urged to sell striker

Sunderland are being urged to sever their ties with striker Asamoah Gyan and allow him to join Al Ain on a permanent basis.

The Ghana striker caused uproar at the Stadium of Light back in September when he engineered his exit to the mega rich UAE club on a loan deal which lasts until June.

Despite receiving £6m for the loan of the player the then Sunderland boss Steve Bruce was less than happy with they way Gyan left the club and the fact he was then left seriously short of strikers, a situation which ultimately went some way to him losing his position at the club.

Al Ain, who are closing in on the title in the UAE, now want to turn the striker's move into a permanent deal and are willing to pay another £6m to secure it.

Martin O'Neill may decide he wants Gyan back before deciding on his ultimate future, although what sort of reception the striker would get from the fans on his return remains to be seen.
